This page lists resources on active, cooperative learning, related
themes, concepts and practices. The most effective way to engage students in
schools is to teach them in an engaging manner and to incorporate student
voice in decisions about teaching practice. Active learning, cooperative
learning, project-based learning and problem learning are all terms used to
describe teaching methods that engage learners. These methods are based on
theories about learning that include constructivist approaches, where the
current knowledge, skills and interests of the students are taken into
account in deciding what will be learned and how it will be learned. More
recently, concepts such as student voice in teaching and democratic or
invitational education have been used to describe a comprehensive approach
to these topics.
Please review the pages for more
on project-based learning, engaging
students through online learning and in
community service learning.
