PROVINCIAL/TERRITORIAL CURRICULUM

This planner can be used to organize the websites and offline resources that you have selected as part of your WebQuest. Before starting, we suggest that a review be done of the section on Using WebQuests in Health Education and also a review of the Online Template for Preparing Students Instructions. Both of these sources will guide you as you plan out your WebQuest.

Medium-Term

Involve 2-3 students visiting the same 5-10 sites, within two weeks, with a class or web presentation.

Time required = 1.5 hours online, 5 hours offline in small group work, 1 hour class presentation.

Outcomes: (Select sites and offline resources that achieve these types of outcomes:)

  • Acquire and synthesize information into knowledge on two-three topics.
  • Assess validity of information, source, perspective through critical thinking.
  • Transform information into a new attitudes/beliefs through offline small group activity.
  • Practice new skill through vicarious activity (online simulation, group presentaton, etc.).
  • Learn where, how to access one form of social support related to the topic, or one sexual health service related to the topic.
  • Anticipate one special situation or special need related to the topic.
  • Transform knowledge, beliefs, skills, etc. into advice for youth and thereby enabling them to develop their own health behavioural intentions or action plan.
