Community-based  Programs   Reaching
Into Schools

Community-based programs often use the school to identify youth for their programs. This section of the safe school framework examines these programs where the school’s involvement is limited to that identification or publicity function. It can be difficult to distinguish between this type of crime prevention program and the earlier category of community-school programs. In this model, the activity is primarily in the community with the school playing a secondary role of identifying youth or publicizing the program.
