This gateway provides a library
on school-based health promotion with links to the world-wide CSH/HPS
movement, extensive background information and explains the essential
elements of a comprehensive school health (CSH) approach. In Canada, over 25
national organizations have published a
consensus statement on Comprehensive
School Health (CSH). This site has and will create extensive collections of links to research, planning, assessment and other resource documents on the web. These have been organized into sections that apply a CSH approach to several health issues, including: safety/crime/violence, drugs and alcohol, tobacco, health eating, physical activity, chronic disease/diabetes, environmental health, injury prevention, HIV/sexuality, racism/discrimination. This site is also gathering links to a vast number of lesson plans and categorized them under general health, sexuality, healthy eating, physical activity, chronic disease, tobacco, heart health, family studies, personal development, social development, injury prevention, mental health, environmental health, addictions/drugs/alcohol, diversity/discrimination, violence/crime/bullying, special needs, health and society, health careers. This site is also partnered with another devoted to publishing student health webquests (projects that combine online and real life activities into active learning). To stay up to date with school health news, research and new educational or planning resources, sign up for the School Health Listserve and read the Trend Reports and News Updates. |
