PROVINCIAL/TERRITORIAL CURRICULUM


 

This planner can be used to organize the websites and offline resources that you have selected as part of your WebQuest. Before starting, we suggest that a review be done of the section on Using WebQuests in Health Education and also a review of the Online Template for Preparing Students Instructions. Both of these sources will guide you as you plan out your WebQuest.

Short-Term

Involve all students in the class as a homework assignment, visiting 3-5 sites.

Time required = 30 minutes online, 30 minutes offline.

Outcomes: (Select sites and offline resources that achieve these types of outcomes:)

  • Acquire and synthesize information to create knowledge on one topic and use critical thinking skills and/or
  • Be introduced to a sexual health values/belief or an issue/choice/dilemma or conflicting views in preparation for a class discussion and/or
  • Test level of knowledge by visiting a quiz site, then fact sheet site in preparation or as follow-up to class discussion.
  • Learn where, how to access one form of social support, or one sexual health service.
  • Anticipate one special situation or special need.
  • Acquire self-knowledge through online activities and through reflection in personal health journal.

Essential Student Tasks (Adapt these basic tasks for your WebQuest)

1. Visit selected sites and prepare summary or answer pre-assigned questions.

2. Prepare summary of information, or reflect on issue/choices/perspectives or review quiz results (and email teacher?).

3. Make entry in their own personal health journal.
