Online Content

Visit the Canadian Health Network (CHN)
Use their guided search to locate good Canadian content. Select a topic, then select: guided search> youth> tools or health living information. Don't miss the games & quizzes and kids stuff noted at the start of the health topic.

2.

Review our existing lists of WebQuests to see if you can adapt one of them for your students. (Permission may be needed from the author. Read Bernie Dodge's advice on Adapting & Enhancing Existing Webquests.

3.

Check the www.safehealthyschools.org website which is published by several Canadian organizations. Check if the lesson plan gateways have information on your topic. Look for online learning resources (OL).

4.

Check out the SchoolNet Grassroots projects to see if any of their student/school projects match your topic. Students may be interested in the work of other students.

5.

Check out the Statistics Canada website to see if they have Canadian or even local community statistical data that can be used in the WebQuests.

6.

Use an Internet Search Engine to locate sites. Watch for commercialism, extreme points of view, and links to inappropriate sites. Check out our tips for reviewing websites.


Offline Content
 
1.

Check your school library and audiovisual resources for appropriate texts, videos and computer-based resources that can be part of your WebQuest.

2.

Contact local health agencies and voluntary organizations, as well as physicians, police officers and other professionals to see if they can be part of the WebQuest. Students can interview these individuals as part of the WebQuest.

3.

Review our list of Examples of Student Health Action Projects to see if they can be used or adapted for your WebQuest. These real life activities will help to make your WebQuest real to your students.
